Early this month, my sister and I brought our parents for a short staycation at Casa Del Rio, Malacca. It was a conjunction with our parent's 54th Wedding Anniversary. This is an advance trip and celebration because their anniversary falls in October. My sis will be busy with her work in October so we did it earlier.
We booked 2 river view rooms for a night. I emailed the hotel prior to our trip to ensure we got the best river view room because this was for my parent's anniversary. My parent will be unable to walk around and explore nearby like any other healthy people. Both of them will be in the room most of the time. The best river view is really crucial so they will not feel bored to stay in their room. At least, both can sit on the balcony to see the outside view.
The hotel made our stay extra special with a special complimentary surprise for my parent. The housekeeping decorated one of the rooms to celebrate my parent's anniversary. Of course, we got the best river view too. My Dad especially, was super excited when he saw the Malacca cruise boat cruising the moment he opened the sliding door.
At first, we planned to have our dinner at the hotel but ended up packing from Heeran House which is only a step away from the hotel and enjoy our dinner by the balcony with the view of Malacca River. Our family don't eat much, anyway. So, it will be a waste of money to spend on hotel dinners. But overall the River Bundle Dinner package is kind of attractive and affordable. We wish to have a big appetite to enjoy that!
Breakfast was included with the room package, so we did enjoy a good breakfast buffet spread by the river cafe. I love their not-so-overly done but complete buffet spread. Right after breakfast, we went to the third floor of the hotel or a rooftop to enjoy the Malacca spectacular view from the top. They even have an infinity pool up there.
By the way, Casa Del Rio, Malacca is a wheelchair-friendly hotel. That is the reason we chose this hotel too, because my Mom is in a wheelchair while my Dad is someone with a walking stick. Both are unable to move around without assistance.
We parked our car at the hotel basement and the security took the liberty to clear the windscreen. Isn't that awesome?
My sister and I managed to walk over to Jonker Street on our first night and then walked over again to visit French Brown Cafe for a cup of coffee before checking out the next day while waiting for our parents to get ready. It's all just a few minutes walk from the hotel.
